Our Mission

The Restored Souls Foundation’s mission is to provide support and resources to families with vulnerable children. We aim to prevent caretaker burnout by encouraging hope and restoring joy for foster, adoptive, medically fragile and families with special needs children-for we are all God’s children.

Goals

1. To provide families free restful and fun experiences to prevent caretaker burnout and give children a sense of normalcy.

2. To build or buy a retreat facility so families can receive the restorative services they need while staying with us

3. To restore hope to families by partnering with local organizations and giving wrap-around support when families need it most.

Our Why?

  • There are over 200 kids in the foster system in the Wilmington area with less than 80 foster parents to care for them. The average foster family in easter NC stops fostering after a year because of the challenges they face.

  • There are over 500,000 children with special needs in NC. An average family spends $80,000 a year on medical expenses for a medically fragile child outside of what insurance covers. These parents struggle in getting any type of self-care because they are the only caregiver for their child.

  • 55% of foster children that are adopted out of the system are adopted by their current foster parents. But because of the drop off of foster families, there are over 100 foster children who have been waiting a year or more to be adopted into forever families in North Carolina.

  • The Restored Souls Foundation is the only organization in the United States that provides overnight respite experiences to families and parents for free.
